Founder & board advisor

Dr. Jennifer Harrington’s passion for medical missions was inspired by missionary pioneers like Amy Carmichael and Albert Schweitzer, leading her to participate in mission trips to Malaysia and Papua New Guinea during her undergraduate studies at Grove City College. After completing her Physician Assistant (PA) certification, she devoted her early clinical career to serving an economically depressed community in rural Appalachia before transitioning into PA education to mentor future healthcare providers.

Driven by Christ’s call to servant leadership (Mark 10:45), Dr. Harrington has led more than a dozen medical teams to Peru and Guatemala and established mission partnerships across Honduras, Nicaragua, and Haiti. In 2023, she formalized this vision by founding Called to Serve as an official non-profit organization.

To date, Dr. Harrington has mobilized over 150 medical providers and students to deliver care to more than 15,000 patients in underserved regions worldwide. She views medicine as a bridge to share the love and Gospel of Jesus Christ, remaining dedicated to equipping healthcare workers to use their clinical gifts as His hands and feet around the globe.
